My Spirit Call – Original Song – Mountain Dulcimer

My Spirit Call is an original piece on mountain dulcimer. No backing tracks—just wood and strings. It’s about time, memory, and the kind of forgiveness that lets you breathe again.

Lyrics

I’ve been thinking about time
Like a river running in my soul
Some moments I was met with rapids
Holding on when out of control
I find a memory of you
And you pull me through

I’ve been thinking about time
And everyone I’ve ever known
Sending love to you all
Hoping you hear my spirit call

I’ve been thinking about time
Like a season in my heart
Sometimes it feels like winter
Without a fire start
I think of your embrace
No distance can ever erase

I’ve been thinking about time
And everyone I’ve ever known
Sending love to you all
Hoping you hear my spirit call

I’ve been thinking about time
Like a highway I’ve yet to find
Where the moon is on the horizon
And all the stars have aligned
I can forgive you
Please forgive me too

I’ve been thinking about time
And everyone I’ve ever known
Sending love to you all
Hoping you hear my spirit call

Time — Official Video & Lyrics

Time is a gentle reminder to step off the clock and into the moment—coffee at sunrise, rain on the window, and the simple joy of being present. Give it a listen, then read along below.

Lyrics

The clock it’s ticking on the side of the wall With the slow, sleepy dripping of the nights rainfall Minutes pass by that we will never capture again Moments are all around us, for stories to begin Don’t count life by time Or it will just tick away Don’t count life by time Measure it in happiness each day Confined to a schedule, we come and go As if being taken under by the oceans undertow Deliver me from these seconds and fractions of time Cause moments are all around us, so I’ll make them mine Don’t count life by time Or it will just tick away Don’t count life by time Measure it in happiness each day The sun is just rising, and the coffee is on A smile on my face, it’s been much too long The rain has faded and the people will rise For moments are all around us, just open your eyes Don’t count life by time Or it will just tick away Don’t count life by time Measure it in happiness each day

Old Reel To Reel — A Song for My Mom and Dad’s 50th Anniversary

I wrote “Old Reel To Reel” for my mom and dad’s 50th wedding anniversary. We found an old reel-to-reel home movie from their July 1971 wedding—footage they’d never seen digitized. Frame by frame, those moments came back to life: the dress, the bouquet, the church packed with family and friends. This song came from that feeling—love captured on film, still living on today.

Lyrics: Old Reel To Reel

An old reel to reel began to play
Memories of old never seen til today
Frame by Frame the bride and the groom
The church was filled, only standing room

Wedding dress and a rose bouquet
Smiling loved ones gathered that day
Some have come, some have gone
The love that day still lives on

July Day back in seventy-one
Mom and Dad their journey just begun
A simpler time when the world was so new
My mom and dad said the words I do

Wedding dress and a rose bouquet
Smiling loved ones gathered that day
Some have come, some have gone
The love that day still lives on

Behind the Song

This is a simple, solo acoustic performance—just my voice and an acoustic guitar. I kept it stripped-back so the story and those rediscovered wedding moments could take the lead.
